Chapter 6

The World Changes

“What ya got?” I asked.

“Listen.” He turned the speaker up a little. After a minute I asked him to go get everyone, but to be sure to tell them we were in no danger. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow, then took off. I heard quite a few muffled conversations, and within ten minutes every adult was there, even Pop and the newlyweds.

“Everyone, we just got some news we picked up. This is from a news channel in Israel.” I turned up the sound.

“This is YNETNEWS reporting from Jerusalem. Earlier this week, the Israeli government announced that work on the new Third Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount has been started here in Jerusalem. Yesterday, the first ever Sabbath service in almost 2,000 years was held on the site.

“Immediately, every Muslim country called it a desecration of their holy mount, where they claim Muhammad rose to heaven from in 632 AD. That was 562 years after the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 A.D., after the Jewish revolt began in the year 66 A.D. The Muslims have declared a holy jihad against all Jews for this affront to their prophet, vowing the death of every Jew, destruction of the new temple, and the destruction of our country.

“As a result, approximately 10 million Muslim and Arab troops have amassed at our borders. The Israeli government has called up all IDF (Israeli Defense Force) troops, along with all citizens aged fifteen to 60. The Israeli cabinet has issued a warning to the respective governments that the use of nuclear weapons has been authorized against these troops, the respective country’s capitals, and every military asset, concentration of forces, military base and asset of the countries aligned against us.

“In a surprise admission, the Israeli prime minister acknowledged that Israel possesses over 500 strategic nukes, along with another 1,000 tactical, battlefield size nuclear weapons. They also acknowledged that they possess all 14 of the former US’s nuclear powered SSBN, or nuclear missile capable nuclear-powered submarines, purchased from the US, along with eight of the eleven nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and the entire remnants of the US 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th fleets, along with their entire air wings.

“Also purchased were the military hardware and assets of six of the US Marine Expeditionary Units, along with 24 of the 31 Los Angeles class fast attack subs, four Ohio class guided missile subs, which are outfitted with an unknown number of nuclear cruise missiles, three Seawolf class fast attack subs, and 20 of the 27 Virginia class fast attack subs.

“The location and status of the remaining Naval assets is unknown at this time. Although, there are reports that the remaining assets may have simply disappeared, and are either in hiding or have also been bought, but that their status and location are being hidden in order to confuse Israel’s enemies.

“In addition, the Israeli government recently announced that they had also purchased all military assets of the former US’s 3rd
